IPL 2025 is heating up — and we’re not just talking about sixes and yorkers!
In a fiery clash at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, things got a little too spicy for Lucknow Super Giants. While the scoreboard was ticking and wickets were tumbling, behind the scenes, the BCCI was readying the season’s heftiest fine yet. And guess who’s caught in the middle of it all? The breakout star of IPL 2025 — Digvesh Singh Rathi.

📝 Notebook Celebration or Note to Self?
Digvesh Rathi, the 25-year-old spinner from Delhi, has been grabbing headlines for his on-field brilliance — six wickets already with an impressive economy of 7.62. But this week, he made headlines for something entirely different: his now-infamous “notebook celebration.”
Yes, you read that right. After clean-bowling Mumbai Indians’ Naman Dhir, Digvesh once again whipped out an imaginary notebook and started scribbling — a celebration style made famous by Kesrick Williams. Fun? Maybe. Approved? Definitely not.
This was his second time pulling off the same act — after doing it in LSG’s earlier game against Punjab Kings. The first time earned him a slap on the wrist: 25% of his match fee. But this time? BCCI wasn’t in a forgiving mood. They’ve slapped a 50% fine on his match fees and added another Demerit Point to his tally.

🕒 Meanwhile, Captain Pant Gets Clocked
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant didn’t escape unscathed either. His team failed to keep up with the required over rate against Mumbai Indians — and under IPL’s Code of Conduct, that’s a no-no.
While this was their first offence this season, Pant was still fined ₹12 lakh. Not ideal, but better than a ban… for now.
BCCI confirmed that both players were in breach of different parts of the IPL Code of Conduct — Pant for slow over-rate under Article 2.22, and Rathi for a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5, which deals with on-field behavior.
The board isn’t messing around this season. Two Level 1 breaches in just a few games? That’s serious business. And just so you know — the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding for these cases.
